ClickUp Super Agents and ClawStaff both deploy AI agents for team workflows, but they represent fundamentally different philosophies. ClickUp embeds AI agents inside its own workspace, which is powerful if ClickUp is your team’s home base but locked to that ecosystem. ClawStaff deploys agents across your entire tool stack (Slack, GitHub, Notion, Google Workspace, and more) without requiring your team to consolidate into a single platform. The pricing models are equally different: ClickUp charges every workspace member $28/month for AI, while ClawStaff charges per agent regardless of team size.

Overview

ClawStaff is a managed AI agent deployment platform. Agents (Claws) connect to your team’s tools and operate autonomously: monitoring events, making decisions, and taking actions across multiple platforms. Each Claw runs in its own isolated ClawCage container with scoped permissions. Pricing is per-agent: Solo ($59/mo for 2 agents), Team ($179/mo for 10), Agency ($479/mo for 50). BYOK lets you choose your AI model.

ClickUp Super Agents are AI teammates embedded in ClickUp 4.0 workspaces. Launched in late 2025, they represent the top tier of ClickUp’s AI offering (powered by acquisitions of Qatalog and Codegen). Super Agents can manage tasks, write documents, participate in ClickUp Chat, search connected external tools, and execute multi-step workflows inside the ClickUp ecosystem. They require the “Everything AI” plan at $28/user/month, billed for every member of the workspace, not just those who use AI.

Key Differences

Ecosystem lock-in vs. cross-tool freedom. ClickUp Super Agents live inside ClickUp. They excel at managing ClickUp tasks, writing ClickUp Docs, and participating in ClickUp Chat. They can search 100+ connected external tools through the Qatalog integration layer, but their primary operating environment is ClickUp itself. If your team uses ClickUp for everything (tasks, docs, chat, goals), Super Agents have deep native access.

ClawStaff agents live in your actual tools. A Claw operates inside Slack, monitors GitHub repos, updates Notion databases, and reads Google Sheets. It does not require your team to move into a single platform. If your engineering team uses GitHub, your marketing team uses Notion, and everyone communicates in Slack, ClawStaff agents work where each team already works.

Pricing architecture. This is the most consequential difference for most teams.

ClickUp’s Everything AI plan costs $28/user/month, billed for every workspace member. You cannot selectively license AI for a subset of users. If you have 25 people in your ClickUp workspace, you pay $700/month for AI, even if only 5 people actively use Super Agents. And that is on top of ClickUp’s base subscription (Business plan at approximately $12/user/month).

ClawStaff charges per agent, not per user. A 25-person team deploys 10 agents for $179/month. Every team member interacts with those agents. The cost stays the same whether you have 10 or 100 people. The pricing difference compounds rapidly:

Team SizeClawStaff (Team plan)ClickUp Everything AIClickUp Total (Business + AI)
10 people$179/mo$280/mo$400/mo
25 people$179/mo$700/mo$1,000/mo
50 people$479/mo (Agency)$1,400/mo$2,000/mo
100 people$479/mo (Agency)$2,800/mo$4,000/mo

At 25 people, ClickUp’s AI costs 7x more than ClawStaff. At 100 people, it costs 9x more.

AI credit consumption. ClickUp Super Agents consume “AI Super Credits,” 5,000 per user per month on the Everything AI plan. Credits are pooled across the workspace, but complex agent workflows burn through them quickly. If your workspace exceeds its credit allocation, additional credits cost $10 per 10,000. ClawStaff has no credit system. Agents execute unlimited tasks. The only variable cost is your BYOK AI model usage, which you monitor and control directly through your provider’s dashboard.

AI model choice. ClawStaff’s BYOK model lets you choose which AI model powers each agent: Claude for detailed writing tasks, GPT-4 for code-heavy workflows, a smaller model for high-volume triage. You pay your provider directly with zero markup. ClickUp uses its own built-in models with no ability to choose or switch. You are locked into whatever models ClickUp has negotiated.

Container isolation. Each Claw runs in its own ClawCage, an isolated Docker container with dedicated resources and network boundaries. One agent cannot access another’s data. ClickUp Super Agents share the workspace runtime. While they respect workspace permissions, they do not provide process-level isolation between agents.

Workspace memory is where ClickUp has a genuine architectural advantage. Super Agents maintain three types of memory: short-term (current session), long-term (organizational knowledge from docs, past tasks, and rules), and preference-based (how specific people and teams like work presented). Because ClickUp is the system of record for tasks, docs, and chat, agents have deep contextual awareness of your workspace history. ClawStaff agents access tool-specific context through their integrations, which is effective but not as deeply embedded as ClickUp’s native memory.

When ClickUp Super Agents make sense

ClickUp Super Agents are genuinely powerful if three conditions are met:

  1. Your team already lives in ClickUp. If ClickUp is your task management, documentation, and chat platform, and your team is happy there, Super Agents use that unified data layer effectively. The native workspace memory gives agents deep context that cross-tool platforms cannot match.

  2. Every workspace member benefits from AI. The workspace-wide billing model only makes sense if most members actually use AI features. If 25 out of 25 people use Super Agents daily, $28/user is reasonable. If 5 out of 25 people use them, you are paying for 20 unused seats.

  3. Your budget accommodates per-user AI pricing at scale. For a 10-person team, $280/month for AI is manageable. For a 100-person organization, $2,800/month for AI alone requires significant budget commitment, on top of ClickUp’s base subscription.

When ClawStaff is the better fit

ClawStaff is the better choice when:

  • Your team uses multiple tools. If your workflow spans Slack, GitHub, Notion, and Google Workspace, not just ClickUp, agents need to operate across all of them. ClawStaff agents work where your team works, regardless of which platforms they use.

  • Per-user AI pricing does not make sense. If you have a 50-person team but only need 5 agents handling specific workflows, paying $1,400/month (ClickUp) versus $179/month (ClawStaff) is a straightforward decision. Per-agent pricing decouples AI cost from headcount.

  • You want AI model control. BYOK lets you choose the best model for each agent, pay providers directly, and switch models without switching platforms. ClickUp locks you into their model selection.

  • Agent isolation matters. Container-level isolation per agent is a security requirement for some teams. ClawStaff provides it architecturally; ClickUp does not.

  • You do not want to consolidate into ClickUp. Moving your team’s tasks, docs, and chat into ClickUp to get AI agents is a major migration. ClawStaff adds AI agents to your existing stack without requiring platform consolidation.

The consolidation question

ClickUp’s strategy is convergence: they want to be your task manager, document editor, chat platform, and AI agent platform all in one. If you buy into that vision and your team is willing to consolidate, Super Agents benefit from the unified data layer.

ClawStaff’s strategy is integration: AI agents that work across whatever tools your team already uses. No consolidation required. No migration needed. Deploy agents into your existing workflow and let your team keep using the tools they know.

The question is whether the benefits of ClickUp’s unified workspace justify the cost of consolidation and per-user AI pricing. For teams already in ClickUp, the answer might be yes. For teams using a mix of tools, which is most teams, ClawStaff provides more flexibility at a lower cost.

The Bottom Line

ClickUp Super Agents are an impressive feature inside ClickUp’s ecosystem. The native workspace memory, 500+ work skills, and deep task management integration are genuine strengths. But the pricing model ($28/user/month for every workspace member, with credit-based consumption on top) creates significant cost pressure, especially as teams grow.

ClawStaff provides AI agents that work across your entire tool stack at per-agent pricing. No workspace-wide billing. No credit consumption limits. No ecosystem lock-in. For teams that use more than just ClickUp, and for teams where per-user AI pricing does not make economic sense, ClawStaff delivers comparable agent capabilities at a fraction of the cost.

Summary

ClickUp Super Agents are powerful if your team already lives in ClickUp and you are willing to pay $28/user/month for everyone. ClawStaff works across all your tools at per-agent pricing, regardless of team size. Different architectures, dramatically different cost models.
